Indiana sports betting

Oct 19, 2021

Indiana welcomes legalized sports betting since September 2019. It has thus become the 13th state to go live with sports betting in the US. The Indiana Governor, Holcomb, brought this bill into law by giving his signature in May, 2019. Accordingly, the first sportsbook started going live from September of that year and Holcomb placed the initial bets. As many as 3 licensed sportsbooks made their debut prior to the NFL season.

Indiana sportsbook reviewed will show you that each has the right to host as many as 3 “skins” or separate brands under its name. Like the state of New Jersey, as many as a dozen sportsbooks have already come into this state and more and expected to arrive soon. 14 physical properties, including a mix of race tracks, casinos, off-track betting, and riverboats have got sportsbook licenses. These sportsbooks differ in terms of their menus, size, space, and technology. DraftKings and Bet Rivers were the first to launch in the state, followed by FanDuel.

Sports’ betting in Indiana is expected to attract almost $12 million-$20 million revenues annually. These estimates have been based upon the lesser-than-anticipated betting revenues which have been collected from states that have already make sports wagering legal. For instance, the projections are largely based on revenues extracted from New Jersey which follows an almost similar regulatory framework with slightly bigger population. Tax revenues from this will be transferred to the state fund for education, healthcare, prison, state parks, etc.
