New Job Opportunities Come to Gary, Indiana

Petro Stopping Centers will be opening a Gary Petro schedule late May, 2013. The new Facility is now under construction at I-80/I-94, Exit 9 3001 Grant St. Gary  The city of Gary has partnered with  the TravelCenters of America and Petro Stopping Centers to provide much needed job opportunities for Gary residents.

Q.  What is Petro Stopping Centers?

A.  Petro Stopping Centers® is operated by TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters), headquartered in Westlake, Ohio. Petro is a leading travel center brand.  TravelCenters also operates the TA®-branded travel centers. Together, the TA and Petro travel center network spans 41 states with 244 full-service locations. Q. What services will the Gary Petro offer?

A.  Petro Gary will provide customers diesel and gasoline fueling services, the highly regarded Iron Skillet® full-service restaurant, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut quick-service restaurants, a 24-hour convenience store with a deli, heavy truck maintenance services, RoadSquad Connect™ (24/7/365 emergency truck roadside service), the cleanest restrooms and showers on the highway, Wi-Fi, Verizon wireless phone sales and service, and many other services.  

 

Q.  How many jobs will be filled for the new Gary Petro Stopping Centers location?

A.  There are a total of 160 open positions to be filled at the new Gary Petro.

 

Q.  How many full time and part time positions are being filled?

A.  Approximately 30 percent of the positions — or 48 jobs — will be filled with full-time associates, and 70 percent — 112 jobs — with part-time associates.

 

Q.  What types of jobs will be filled?

A.  Positions to be filled include cashiers, deli workers, fuel island attendants and porters (janitorial services) for Petro’s Travel Store and fuel business; mechanics and advisors for the Petro:Lube truck service facility; servers, cooks, cashiers and dishwashers for the Iron Skillet® full-service restaurant; crew members and crew leads for the Taco Bell and Pizza Hut quick-service restaurants; and wireless sales associates for the on-site Verizon kiosk.

 

Q.  How can citizens of Gary and surrounding areas apply for these positions?

A.  A series of job fairs will be held for interested applicants to receive additional information and apply for these positions. Applicants should bring a current resume with them to the job fair. Job fairs will be held at the following locations and times:
