Red Hat Day

Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson will join the ladies of the Red Hat Society and officially proclaim April 25th, “Red Hat Day” in the City of Gary. The Red Hat Society is the largest international social organization for women. During the proclamation, Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson will talk about the “Gary Goes Red” Campaign efforts for the American Heart Association, and President Bea Caruthers will also make a contribution to the Gary Goes Red campaign on behalf of the Red Hat Society, and The Classy Ladies United Chapter #6053.  This proclamation will occur on April 25th at 10:30a.m. in City Hall. After the Mayor reads the proclamation, there will be a group photo of the Mayor with the Red Hat Society members.

The Red Hat Society is a global society of women that supports and encourages women in their pursuit of fun, friendship, freedom, fulfillment, and fitness. It is dedicated to reshaping the way women are viewed in today’s culture. They have been around for over 15 years and within the first 5 years, grew to over 40,000 chapters worldwide.
